The Transportation of Hazardous Materials (THM) Section
in the Energy Technology
Division provides direct technical support to DOE in reviewing Safety Analysis
Reports (SARs) for packaging and transportation of radioactive material
for compliance with DOE Orders and with NRC, DOT, and IAEA regulations.
The Section also conducts training courses and provides technical assistance
to NRC and DOE on a variety of issues related to plant aging management, license renewal, waste management, and transportation, including upgrade
support for the TRANSCOM satellite tracking
of radioactive material shipments, and production and distribution of
training and public information videos.
