SARP Review Methodology

Introduction

The key functions that radioactive material packaging performs are:

  • Shielding against radiation
  • Containment of the radioactive material
  • Criticality control

    • The packaging protects the enviranment from conditions intenal to the packaging

    and

    it protects the contents and its containment against actual or potential external conditions and events.

    The safety review process analizes the response of the package and its ability to perform the key functions when subjected to each of these conditions and events.
